Tuscaloosa, AL – 20 October 2025 – Greenway Steel today announced a strategic partnership with S1SEVEN, a leader in digital trust and compliance technologies for industrial materials, to deploy digital material passport (DMP) solutions that enable verifiable, end-to-end tracking of sustainability and compliance data across the metals and steel supply chain.
The collaboration aims to accelerate the industry’s transition toward transparent, data-driven reporting of embedded emissions and sustainability attributes, a growing priority as global regulatory frameworks such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and evolving U.S. content requirements reshape trade and compliance obligations.
By leveraging S1SEVEN’s blockchain-based infrastructure, Greenway Steel will integrate trusted digital product data, including carbon intensity, recycled content, and production traceability, directly from mills, processors, and distributors. This will allow customers to access authenticated data at each stage of the value chain, reducing manual reporting burdens while improving data integrity and audit readiness.
“The market is increasingly demanding reliable, verifiable data about the materials they purchase,” said Randy Charles, Founder and Manager of Greenway Steel. “Through our partnership with S1SEVEN, we’re making it possible to trace the carbon footprint and other key characteristics of steel products with the same confidence as traditional quality certifications.”
S1SEVEN spokesperson Stefan Gruell, CEO and Founder at S1SEVEN, added: “Greenway Steel is taking a leadership role in demonstrating how digital material passports can bring transparency and accountability to complex supply chains. Together, we’re helping the metals industry prepare for a future where trusted data is a prerequisite for doing business.”
The initial phase of the partnership will focus on pilot programs with key customers and suppliers, exploring use cases for embedded emissions data exchange, CBAM compliance, and automated verification of product characteristics. The long-term goal is to create an interoperable framework that supports emerging standards for digital material passports in both U.S. and international markets.
